The Assistant Director is responsible for Advancement administration which includes budget management, oversight of the processes to accept complex gifts, and liaising with financial aid in scholarship administration. This includes drafting gift agreements, maintaining standards of sponsorship packages, managing the gift in kind approval process, and ensures that donors’ intentions for giving to the university are accurately documented and that the university’s priorities are financially supported while maintaining legal standards and university policies and procedures. In addition, this role will have overall management of the division budget through administering the projections process, approving journal vouchers, reconciling funds, accounting for carry forward amounts, and compiling budget requests for the division. This position will assist the Director in high-level budget and salary planning and monitor and provide resolution to fund balance issues. This position works closely with schools and units, the office of legal affairs, financial aid, and Directors of Philanthropy.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, management, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • At least four years of experience in accounting, budget, finance, operations or compliance/due diligence related field. Knowledge of applied principles of accounting, including gift.
  • Excellent managerial, analytical, critical thinking, and technical and planning skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, manage a heavy workload with multiple deadlines and competing priorities, and succeed in a teamwork environment.
  • Ability to communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels, including high-level executives.
  • Advanced proficiency in business applications, specifically Excel, and ability to generate reports and analysis.
  • Ability to translate spending requirements and donor related regulations into operational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
