Peckham Inc. – Accounting Manager

SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager is responsible for various general accounting duties and will oversee the daily accounting activities in Peckham’s finance department, while working collaboratively across the organization.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the billing and accounts receivable function, including backup duties for colleagues.
  • Oversees the accounts payable function, including backup duties for colleagues.
  • Maintains the corporate credit card program, including month end reconciliation, review and posting of entries.
  • Prepares audit workpapers.
  • Maintains vendor information, positive pay, and cash balances within the organization’s banking system.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Oversees corporate petty cash accounts.
  • Establishes and maintains internal controls in accordance with departmental and organizational guidelines.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Promote Peckham’s vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining organizational-wide quality standards.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for invoicing, collections, and bill payment.
  • Develop a unified team that reflects Peckham’s culture and values
  • Provide mentorship and coaching

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • 5 years’ work experience in Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), Payroll or other accounting functions.
  • Experience with accrual accounting and General Ledger (G/L) entries.
  • Familiarity with automated accounting software packages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Must be able to create and maintain spreadsheets, charts, tables and graphs to illustrate financial activity, results and comparisons. Ideally, have experience with Pivot Tables and V-Look Up.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess and practice critical thinking skills; use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to work independently and seek guidance as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with accuracy and meet competing deadlines.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment with people with diverse backgrounds and skillsets.
  • Ability to provide information and reports to management in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
  • Supervisory experience.
