Affirmations Community Center is looking for a Development and Community Relations Coordinator to join our growing team under the supervision of the Director of Development and Deputy Director of Development. The ideal applicant will have a background in nonprofit fund development, with a minimum of 2 years’ job experience and experience working with the LGBTQ+ community. They will be responsible for supporting the organization’s development activities in the areas of fundraising special events, corporate gifts and sponsorships, grant writing/management, maintenance of the donor database, and other donor relations activities. This is a full-time, salaried position ($45,000 – $50,000 per year negotiable based on experience) with a generous benefits package, including health, dental and vision, 401k, life insurance, and paid time off.  A flexible, hybrid work schedule with some remote opportunities is available.

Candidates for the Development and Community Relations Coordinator must demonstrate strong writing and organizational skills with a proven track record of securing grants as well as individual donors, and success in engaging the corporate community. In this hands-on role, you will be asked to work with various team members and community partners to move the mission of Affirmations forward and assist with the implementation of the organization’s annual fund development plan.


*Management and execution of all major fundraising special events in a day to day capacity
*Execution of writing and research for solicitation of smaller grants and reporting requirements
*Management of third-party events (events conducted to benefit Affirmations by outside groups and companies)
*Management and execution of the Corporate Gift and Sponsorship Solicitation process
*Serving as the main contact to Employee Resource Groups for volunteer and fundraising opportunities
*Overseeing logistics for the semi-annual Circle of Life (planned giving) events
*Executing various donor stewardship activities such as mailing of donor acknowledgements, maintaining the eTapestry donor database/creating reports as needed, organizing volunteers to conduct thank you calls to donors, and assisting with in-house mailings
*Actively participating in organization-wide efforts to help Affirmations continuously grow in terms of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice including but not limited to helping to create a style guide.
*Supervision of volunteers to support development activities
*Other development duties as assigned



*2+ years of fund development experience with a non-profit or similar organization
*Track record of successful solicitation of individual contributions, grants, and corporate gifts
*Experience in producing special events
*Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office


*Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, non-profit management, or related field
*4+ years of professional fund development experience
*Lived and/or professional experience with the LGBTQ+ community
*High level of understanding and competence in incorporating concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, justice, and intersectionality into marketing and communications.


*Strong negotiation, project management, and problem-solving skills; flexibility and adaptability
*Strong verbal and written communication skills
*Fantastic organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and keep time-sensitive, highly-visible projects running smoothly
*Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a growing, multidisciplinary team
