About Southwest Detroit Business Association

The Southwest Detroit Business Association is a 64-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Detroit’s most diverse neighborhood, with a vibrant mix of Latino/a (60%), Middle Eastern/White (20%) and Black (20%) residents, including one of Detroit’s most dense commercial corridors with a solid group of Latino-owned and Middle Eastern-owned businesses; a large immigrant community; and adjacency to a heavy industry footprint.

SDBA is searching for a one-year Interim CEO with nonprofit turnaround experience, who can focus on a) assessing key internal systems including financial management and fund development and recommending solutions, b) facilitating a strategic planning process and c) facilitating a search for a permanent CEO.

Operating with a budget of $1.4 million and a staff of 7 full and part-time professionals, SDBA acts as a small business advocate/technical assistance provider; the manager of a Business Improvement District (BID); a real estate developer; a provider of cultural programming; and a convener/planner/advocate on issues affecting its community including environmental, immigration and business issues.
