Seedlings Braille Books for Children
Seedlings Braille Books for Children is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the opportunity for literacy by providing high-quality, free and low-cost children's literature in braille.
About Seedlings Braille Books for Children
Seedlings was born in the basement of our Director’s home in Detroit in 1984 after she discovered that children with vision loss had few, if any, braille books because they were scarce and expensive. Since then, with the help of a small staff and hundreds of loyal supporters, Seedlings has produced over 600,000 free and low-cost braille books for children ages 0-21 and placed them into the hands of children around the world who yearn to read and learn.
Our vision is that Seedlings will be the primary source of free and low cost braille books for infants through teens and a recognized leader in fostering braille literacy.
