About Neighborhood House

Neighborhood House is an IRC Sec 501(c)(3) nonprofit social services organization founded in 1968. We partner with the community and other social service providers to help our neighbors with emergency assistance and help them move towards self-sufficiency.

Neighborhood House recognizes the basic needs of families in crisis and responds with prudent, compassionate help.

Areas of assistance include:

  • A full-service Food Pantry providing emergency and long-term food assistance for individuals and families struggling with food insecurity.
  • The Clothes Closet provides free clothing and household items to NH clients and affordable clothing to other low-income families in the area.
  • Financial assistance for rent, utilities and car repairs.
  • Sustainability programs including Financial  Literacy, Career Mentoring, Job Placement, Computer Training and Budget Counseling.
  • Counseling services: we have a licensed counselor with a master’s in social work, who works with individuals, couples and families to provide short-term mental health counseling.  We also have a grant enabling case managers to monitor and create plans to provide wrap around services to help clients with improvements in many areas including childcare, healthcare, housing, jobs, mental health and transportation.
  • Coordinating client programs for back to school, holiday gift program and food baskets, Easter baskets as well as Thanksgiving food baskets.
