About Michigan Audubon

Formed and incorporated in 1904, Michigan Audubon is Michigan’s oldest conservation organization. Michigan Audubon supports bird surveys throughout the state, publishes survey data, provides educational opportunities, and preserves nearly 4,000 acres of land within 18 sanctuaries as habitat for birds and other wildlife.

Whitefish Point Bird Observatory, a program of Michigan Audubon, is a premier migration hotspot and Globally Important Bird Area in the Upper Peninsula where avian research is conducted from March through November each year.

More than 30 chapters of Michigan Audubon focus on local conservation issues and provide educational programs within their communities.

Michigan Audubon encourages the next generation of birders, conservationists, and nature lovers with opportunities such as the Michigan Young Birders Network and annual Michigan Young Birders Camp.
