About McGregor Fund

Founded in 1926 by Tracy and Katherine (Whitney) McGregor, the McGregor Fund is one of the oldest grantmaking foundations serving the City of Detroit’s nonprofit ecosystem. Our six-member staff work meticulously to fulfill our founders’ mission of “relieving the misfortunes and promoting the well-being of humankind” by nurturing relationships with local grantee partners and peers that address a variety of basic needs. In June of 2020, McGregor’s board and staff made a public commitment to anti-racism that continues to lead and shape all facets of our current and future work. This year, our endowment’s valuation reached an all-time high of $233 million, presenting our staff and board with opportunities to explore creative ways to reinvest into the community. While the foundation operates an office in Downtown Detroit, staff continue to work remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
