Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra From main stage concert performances to casual neighborhood Sunday Series concerts, the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) entertains and inspires individuals, families and communities through powerful musical experiences and educational outreach. We are Northern Michigan’s ambassadors for classical music presenting the most traditional of composers to the most innovative of today’s contemporaries. The GLCO’s annual season includes six ticketed concerts, five complementary community Sunday “Neighborhood” Series concerts, a summer series, “Little Bay Live”, and numerous educational programs featuring a young artist competition, side by side workshops, in school music education and outreach in local libraries. The GLCO is the only professional orchestra and auditioned chorus in the lower peninsula above the 45th parallel, primarily serving Antrim, Cheboygan, Charlevoix and Emmet Counties. Recently celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the GLCO was founded by Dr. Robert Pattengale, retired Minnesota State University Music Professor; Incorporated in 2001 as a 501.c3, with its first concert performed in October 2001. Musicians include a roster of 62 professional orchestra members and 40 auditioned chorus members from communities throughout Michigan. GLCO Conductor and Music Director, Libor Ondras, also conducts of Kent Philharmonic Orchestra of Grand Rapids, and is the Director of Orchestras and String Specialist at Grand Rapids Community College.
