About Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry

Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) food pantry in Taylor, Michigan, dedicated to “Ensuring No One Goes Hungry” in seven communities: Allen Park, Brownstown Township, Dearborn Heights, Romulus, Southgate, Taylor and Woodhaven.  Additionally, Fish & Loaves hosts special outreach programs to other residents in need across Western Wayne County.

As a faith-based, non-sectarian organization staffed by more than a hundred volunteers, Fish & Loaves offers a wide range of canned goods, refrigerated and frozen foods, dairy products and seasonal produce to its enrolled clients. Since opening its doors in 2008, Fish & Loaves has assisted tens of thousands of local residents, distributing 1.6 million pounds of food annually.  It is the largest “client choice” food pantry in the State of Michigan.  Two years ago, Fish & Loaves launched its Saturday morning “Fresh Market” program providing fresh produce to more than three hundred households weekly, supplementing what client individuals and households already receive.

Fish & Loaves’ major community partners include the Gleaners Food Bank, Forgotten Harvest, Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency, Focus Hope, and United Way, as well as the various cities we serve.  Several dozen local congregations also financially contribute to the pantry’s mission and serve as a source of active, committed volunteers.

A twelve-member Board of Directors organizes several annual fundraising events, including the Santa’s Magic Forest holiday display in Taylor, an 18-hole golf outing, and a “Happy Soles” 5K run.  Successful non-perishable food drives to help stock pantry shelves are conducted by youth groups, schools, mail carriers, local businesses and others.

The pantry is located at 25670 Northline Road.  For more information, visit the Fish & Loaves website at

  • Since its founding in 2008, Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry has provided nutritious food to thousands of households in need through a store-like setting where clients have been able to select the food that they need in a way that affirms their dignity and minimizes waste. Although the COVID-19 Pandemic has made it necessary to temporarily suspend the client choice option. our volunteers look forward to reinstating client selection as the potential hazard to health declines.
